In 2015, a team of Virginia Tech researchers* estimated the proportion of homes in Flint with dangerous pipes. They randomly sampled homes from the city, inspecting the water for lead contamination.

** This database was painstakingly compiled by BlueConduit in the years following the outbreak of the Flint water crisis. At the time of the Virginia Tech study, researchers only had the time to do a random sample of n = 252 homes in Flint. This activity is replicating the random sampling process of the researchers.
